Hello, I am Derrick Blackburn, the Fire Chief of the South Lexington Fire Department. We are excited to welcome you to our newly designed website, expertly created and managed by Management Solutions. Our team takes great pride in this achievement and is eager to introduce you to our department and its dedicated members.

Allow me to share a bit about myself. I was appointed Fire Chief in September 2024, and since then, we have successfully navigated numerous challenges as we work to enhance our department. I take immense pride in our accomplishments and the hard work of our personnel, who have contributed to our success.

My interest in the fire service began as a young teenager. I currently serve as a full-time firefighter with the City of Asheboro and have held various ranks throughout my career. I am married to my wife, Summer, and together we have three children: two sons, Jacob and Jeremiah, and a daughter, Gracyn. I earned my associate’s degree in Fire Protection Technologies from Guilford Technical Community College, along with being state certified in many other areas. 

As Chief, I recognize the ongoing growth of our community. My team and I are committed to ensuring that our department remains a source of pride for our residents. Thank you for visiting our website.
